Why did this mask fail?

Review

Video Transcript All right. Everybody, thanks again for joining. Joining for the first time we are testing every single mask on Amazon because, we hate money or something. I don't know. We bought all the masks on Amazon. Today we're looking at the WeCare Disposable Mask, effective protection and filtration, tie dye, individually wrapped mask for adults.

They have a kid one. We already reviewed that one. WeCare Disposable Mask for kids and it's tie dye. That's pretty cool. Had a filtration of 90, just under 95%, which is pretty good. I loved the individual wrapping and the box. And so, let's go ahead and give this one a test. So it's tie dye, which is like all the rage with the kids. Rossio is here to make sure we don't spend too much money. He's our head of Finance. So this is a PFE Machine, Particulate Filtration Efficiency.

If you want to learn more about this machine, I'm going to put a link below the video so that you can understand more about it. I'm not going to talk too much about it here, but this is what we use in the United States to test standards of masks. All right, so I'm just looking at the box right now, light and breathable, efficient filtration. So it says efficient filtration, which doesn't mean anything.

They're not making any claims and it's good because they didn't even meet the kids' mask version. Didn't even the minimum standards. The breathability is pretty good. It's 98 pascals. So, that's pretty good. Three layers of protection, effective, painless and soft on the skin. That's right. No pain, with this guy. I love the individual packaging though. I got to tell because I don't like the smells in masks and a lot of times this limits the smell, but the kids' mask did have a bunch of smell on it. So we're going to do a test. This is amazing. I wanted it to be amazing. Let me try this one.

Well, that's good. So, I do really like about this particular brand is that they have chosen to put the welds on the outside. So many times when you get a pattern mask, they put the welds on the insides, cause it looks better. But that's actually a design, for fit. Like when you have the welds on the outside, it actually pulls closer to the face, giving you a better fit, meaning you're breathing through the mask better. This smells exactly like the last mask. I'm not going to make you smell it. Very weird. It's actually a little bit worse. It's again, I'm going to call this, smells like you spilled some gas on your shoe. Smell, which is pretty common.

I'm not exactly sure why this happens. The theory that I have, I don't know if you have any theories. It's that these things are put on a boat and then it's, on an ocean for a month or more at a time and weird smells stuff happens.
So the question is the minimum standards in the US are 95%, for these types of masks. So what do you think these guys are?

Let me get a little credit. Maybe the same as a kid mask.

Same? It's a little bit more 96.062, 96.062. That's great. That is, and again, I love this prank because they're not making any claims. A lot of these brands we've seen have said, oh, 95% filtration. Then we actually put it in and it's 80%. Remember that one that was 80%. Like that's terrible. I don't know how you sleep at night. These guys they're making no claims. I mean, they've got the marketing and they're probably getting most of the bang for their buck, filtration efficiency. It has filtration, which it does and pretty good one at that, 96%. I don't hate this mask. I don't hate this mask. All right guys. Thank you again for watching. Again, we're testing all the masks on Amazon. So if that's your thing, then we got a lot more to do. Stick with us. If you just were trying to figure out if these masks were any good, hit like and subscribe [inaudible 00:03:54] thanks for watching . And I'll see you on the next test.

Description

The WeCare disposable mask passed our particulate filtration efficiency machine test with a score of 96.06%. This 3-ply tie dye surgical mask has ear loops instead of head straps or ties.

Mask breathability is determined by airflow resistance, which we measure in pascals. The target for adults should be around 150, and the target for children should be close to 100. The airflow resistance of this mask is 99.00.

This mask has an odor reminiscent of gasoline. This one's well designed for a good seal.

We found this mask on Amazon. Its country of origin is China. Check out our video review for more details.
