Why did this mask fail?

Review

Video Transcript All right, thanks for joining. Today we are testing every single mask on Amazon, which sounded a lot easier when we first started. Today, for this video, we're testing the Biwisy Face Mask. I'm sure you've heard of Biwisy before. I mean, we're all wearing Biwisy all the time. I love these brand names, man. It's just like this one looks like it was made by a random name generator, a random letter generator, I should say.

Okay, well, let's go ahead and pop this in. We bought 50 pack of this $8.99, extremely affordable. Let's hit this down. This is a Particulate Filtration Efficiency machine. So in the United States, the minimum standards for filtration for masks is 95%. And so this machine tests that using 0.1 micron particulates. You want to know details on that, if you're a nerd, like I am, obviously I'm wearing a lab coat, you want to check the video and the link below, and we'll talk to you. I'll talk to you all day long about it.

But in the meantime, let's talk about this mask. I mean, it seems like a basic mask, but it's got a basic price. So can you really blame it for that? I mean, $8.99, it's got really thin ear loops. So, that is interesting. It's like they save money on the ear loops.

Yeah.

Oh, but it's strong. That's surprising. Oh, yours broke?

Not mine.

Here, try this one. Let me try another one. That one's good. So one broke, which is to be expected. Look, if you're paying under $10 for 50 masks, part of what you're paying for is some of those ear loops breaking. Right? All right, I'm going to try this. Put this guy on my face. So, it's very loose. I don't like how loose the ear loops are. And I got to say... All right, you got to try this, put this on.

I don't like the box. I think they could do a little bit more brand. It says feather filling. It's filled with feather/[inaudible 00:02:08], light and breathable, efficient filtration, not sterile. But it does say... What does it say?

Odorless.

Odorless. Not odorless, but not the worst mask I've put on today. All of this talk about masks doesn't really matter if this thing doesn't protect you. I know. Why is this even a video, right? I mean, we should just put it on a screen. Like this is the filtration. This is the mask. If you want to buy it or not. It's theater. It's a little bit of theater. Look, we paid for this machine, it takes two minutes. I've got to wait the two minutes to do the test. You're going to wait the two minutes.
All right, you've seen the mask, you know masks pretty well. What do you think this one comes in for filtration?

Let's go at 92.

92%? That's what he's going with. 95.553%. 95.553, that's great. That meets the minimum standard. So if they wanted to do the work, maybe do a little bit better box, get it third-party tested, these guys could be an ASTM level 1 mask. That's awesome. Personally, if you're wanting to know what I'm looking for, if I'm going to buy on Amazon, I'm looking for an ASTM level 2 or like ASTM level 3, those have a 98% filtration. That's what the masks we make and the mask we sell.

And I mean, shoot, I would say for $8.99, for this price point, for 50 masks, lack of smell, pretty strong, not many ear loops broke, above 95% filtration. If you are looking for a bargain mask, this is the mask. I give this the bargain win, so far.

So far.

Yeah, it's a good mask.

All right guys, if you like this mask, you're going to buy it, if we're helpful at all. If you're not going to buy it, if we weren't helpful, if you don't like my face, I don't care. I need you to hit that like button. Okay, something I need. If you don't, then YouTube's going to kick us off. We're going to get canceled by YouTube and it's going to be your fault unless you hit the like button. So don't let us get canceled, help us out. I appreciate it. We did the drill, we bought all these masks. We've got this machine. Come on, throw me a bone here, hit the like and subscribe, I appreciate it. We'll see you next time.

Description

The Biwisy disposable mask passed our particulate filtration efficiency machine test with a score of 95.55%. This 3-ply blue surgical mask has ear loops instead of head straps or ties.

Mask breathability is determined by airflow resistance, which we measure in pascals. The target for adults should be around 150, and the target for children should be close to 100. The airflow resistance of this mask is 101.

This is essentially a budget mask. Thin earloops, loose fit, adequate filtration.

We found this mask on Amazon. Its country of origin is China. Check out our video review for more details.
