Why did this mask fail?

Review

Video Transcript Lloyd:
Hi Lloyd. I have purchased these masks out of impulse because it's so pretty, and against all the rules you taught us when buying masks. I like that. I'm very curious to see how these masks perform. I'd really be appreciative if you can test them. There's an extra one for you to break. Awesome. Thanks so much for all the extra work you're doing to educate us about masks and testing these as well. And there's a smiley face.

Julie:
Again a smiley face.

Lloyd:
So this is not a KF94. All KF94s are pretty much made in Korea. This one's made in China. It says it right on the label.

Julie:
It's definitely not a KF94.

Lloyd:
It's in Chinese, it has its happy Chinese New Year, and the bag is so thin, it's not something that South Koreans would use. They use a much, much thicker bag.

Julie:
So as we know-

Lloyd:
And they're packing multiple ones together.

Julie:
That one is really soft.

Lloyd:
It is kind of good. It's very soft. It is light here.

Julie:
Interesting.

Lloyd:
It's like your snugly. It's like a soft as your snugly.

Julie:
Let me smell this. I don't know how China smells, but this might smell like China.

Lloyd:
I don't know what that means. To your defense, Julie, I got to say that there is a Chinese polypropylene smell that I've come to know and love. It could smell like that. I'll see if I can back that up in just a minute.

Julie:
Okay.

Lloyd:
Three, two, one. All right, this is PFE machine: particulate filtration efficiency machine. We are doing the N95 test here on this supposed, but fake KF94. But this is see....

Julie:
Because they said it was a KF94, but as you guys know, it is not a KF94.

Lloyd:
Why is it not a KF94?

Julie:
Because KF94s are made in Korea, and this is made in China as you can see.

Lloyd:
Quick learner. Okay, let's try this on.

Lloyd:
Yeah, actually you nailed it. It does smell like Chinese polypropylene. That's exactly what it smells like.

Julie:
Why did we put....

Lloyd:
I'm going to call this smell "Chinese Polypropylene New Year."

Julie:
What the heck? I don't even know what that is.

Lloyd:
Because it's the Chinese New Year mask. So....

Julie:
Wait, why are all of the lights turned off in here?

Lloyd:
That's the factor... oh wow, that's really not good.

Lloyd:
Let's see if you can break it? Let's see. Wait, let me switch. Hold on. Go for it.

Julie:
Wow, that's really easy.

Lloyd:
Yeah, I don't know butter cookies, did you find that these broke really easily?

Julie:
I don't know.

Lloyd:
All right, test is done. Does any of that stuff matter if it doesn't protect you? What does it say, Julie?

Julie:
It says 98 point... what's it say?

Lloyd:
Two one.

Julie:
Two one, yeah.

Lloyd:
Ninety eight point two one. That's a good mask. Very soft. I'd wear that it's so soft. And look at that, 86.6 pascals. Super breathable. So butter cookies? You have found yourself a pretty good mask I'm going to be honest with you.
